Mother’s Day – the Guide to Flowers

Posted on 3rd March 2021

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, it is time to start thinking about the important gift. This year has been a rough time for mothers across the UK, which is why you need the perfect gift to show how much you care. How better to do that, than with the perfect bouquet of flowers?

We have come together to create a guide listing the best flowers that are available this time of year, and what will be a great surprise for your mother.

Carnations

First up on our lists are carnations, these are flowers that will deliver something that is unique and are very symbolic. Even though these may not have the most visual impact, there have a great selection of colours to choose from: red, pink, white, yellow and purple.

Chrysanthemums

These are definitely a versatile flower, they tend to represent optimism and joy, which we are sure everyone needs some of that this year! These are the flower of choice for this occasion around the world, especially in Australia.

Gardenias

Bright white with strong representations of purity, love, trust and hope. They tend to be chosen as a way of expressing appreciation and love, basically making them perfect for Mother’s Day.

Roses

Roses are most people’s immediate go to when wanting to express feelings of love. While the red rose may be perfect for Valentine’s Day as a romantic sentiment, pink roses are sure to make a statement for Mother’s Day, signifying gratitude, appreciate and also admiration.

Sunflowers

This flower may not be the first choice for many, you can’t look at a sunflower and not feel happiness. The sunflower has many symbolic traits like positivity and happiness, but definitely has a bold aesthetic.

Tulips

Tulips are a popular choice of flower, you may not know this but each colour has a different meaning and can say a lot without having to say anything! Pink tulips are care & affection, yellow = unrequited love, white = forgiveness and red = passion. Meaning a pink tulip is the perfect choice for this occasion!

Fressia

These may not be everyone’s go to choice for Mother’s Day, but that doesn’t mean they don’t offer something special. With bouquets said to show thoughtfulness, friendship and trust they are great for those who are looking for something a little different.

We have given you a lot to think about when thinking of the perfect gift for your loved one. However at Katherine’s Florist, we are on hand to help come up with something special, and if flowers aren’t your forte we also have a range of gifts that will still have the same impact.
